Presentation of Uzbekistan tourism potential in Spain
On the occasion of the launch by "Uzbekistan Airways" of Tashkent-Madrid flight, there was held in the Spanish capital the presentation of Uzbekistan tourism potential.
Read more The event was organized by Uzbekistan National Airlines with assistance of Uzbekistan Embassy in Madrid. Spanish side participants were represented by more than 60 managers from largest tourist companies as well as experts from UNWTO.
Chairman of "Uzbektourism" National Company, Mr Rustam Mirzaev, gave a detailed account of tourism potential of Uzbekistan, its rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as of the country's wide opportunities for specialized tourism (ecological, sport, etc.).
The participants of presentation were also informed about the services and technical potential of "Uzbekistan Airways", which allow the National carrier to meet the international standards and by the end of 2010 to join "SkyTeam" - the global airline alliance partnering thirteen Members and three Associate carriers.
The representatives of "Uzbekistan Airways" company and UNWTO also discussed the issue of granting Uzbekistan National Airlines the status of the Great Silk Road official air carrier.

New regulations on entry to Uzbekistan for Russian residents
Starting from August 13th, 2010 the new regulations on entry into Uzbekistan for Russian residents has become effective.
Read more From now on, in order to enter, exit or transit through the territory of Uzbekistan the Russian residents should have the following: Russian Federation citizen passport, which proves the identity of Russian resident while abroad (international passport);diplomatic passport (for employees of the Ministry for Foreign affairs of Russian Federation); service passport (for those entering the country for business purposes); seaman's identity card (with a ship's position or an extract from it); certificate for return to the Russian Federation (only for return to the Russian Federation).

A new high class hotel opened in Navoi
Twenty-three new hotels and other types of accommodation have been licenses in Uzbekistan within the last two months. These tourist entities are represented mostly by 2- or 3-star mini-hotels which meet the international standards irrespective whether they are built in national or modern style.

The distinctive feature and competitive advantage of such mini-hotels is personal attitude towards each client, which sometimes is rather difficult to achieve in a big hotel.
Rather popular today are national style types of accommodation such as guest-houses and yurts. While traveling in Uzbekistan foreign tourists are looking for exotics, opportunity to immerse into everyday life of an Uzbek family. National Airlines "Uzbekistan Airways" started to operate Airbus 320
Under the programme of air fleet unification, Uzbekistan National Airlines "Uzbekistan Airways" started to operate Airbus-320 aircrafts. The first aircraft from the ten liners ordered by the company from Airbus Industries arrived in July this year and started to operate Tashkent-Baku route. According to the contract all ten Airbus-320 aircrafts are to be delivered within 2010-2011.
Read more Middle-haul aircrafts A-320 will substitute the old Tu-154 and An-24 aircrafts which operate the regional and domestic routes and whose exploitation will be completed by December 31, 2010.
Today Airbus-320 is a modern and economical liner with spacious comfortable passenger cabins, enlarged overhead compartments for hand luggage and modern inflight entertainment systems. The aircraft layout was tailored to serve 150 passengers: 12 passengers in first-class cabin and 138 passengers in economic class cabin.
Besides Airbuses, the stock of orders of "Uzbekistan Airlines" includes 4 Boeing-767-300ER (the planes will be ferried in 2012-2013) and two Boeing-787 Dreamliner to be delivered within 2014-2016.
"Uzbekistan Airways" operate the flights to 21 countries of Europe, America, Middle East, Asia, and to 22 cities of CIS countries, not to mention 11 domestic destinations.

Ring road is built around Bukhara
A ring road around Bukhara, linking Samarkand-Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi and Guzar-Bukhara-Beinau motor roads, has been recently commissioned.
Read more The ring road of the first category meets the international standards and eliminates the necessity of entering Bukhara by trucks and automobiles while traveling in the region. The capacity of this four-line, 20-meter-wide road is up to 15,000 vehicles per day.
According to the experts, the new ring road will reduce traffic flow in Bukhara and will considerably lower the level of urban air pollution thus bringing more comfort for the citizens. Besides, to a certain extent, it will protect from destruction the ancient constructions in the old part of the city which in 1993 was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The restoration of Turki-Jandi architectural ensemble starts in Bukhara
Under the state programme aimed at research, conservation and restoration of Bukhara cultural heritage sites there were started the restoration of a unique architectural ensemble of the 15th-16th century – Turki-Jandi.
Read more According to the project there will be restored and reconstructed a big architectural complex including mausoleum of Turki-Jandi – a prominent Moslem theologian, a mosque, a madrassah and a cemetery.

The State Art Museum of Karakalpakstan celebrated 95th anniversary of Igor Savitsky
On August 4th, in the State Art Museum in Nukus (Karakalpakstan) there was held a celebration of 95th anniversary of Igor Savitsky – the founder of the well-known museum. The legacy of Igor Savitsky, who died in 1984, includes a unique collection of Russian and Soviet avant-garde art which he himself collected in various cities and villages of the former Soviet Union.
Read more Today the Museum named after Igor Savitsky, houses the collection of over 82,000 items, including 7,452 paintings, 25,223 pieces of graphics, 1,322 sculptures, 7,562 items of Uzbek national fine art, a collection of 1,902 coins and 8,618 artifacts found during the excavation works on the territory of Karakalpakstan. Igor Savitsky's collection of avant-garde art of the 1920-1930s numbers about 50,000 works and is considered a real artistic and cultural treasure.
The event dedicated to Igor Savitsky's anniversary, included the presentation of a documentary film "Gem of Uzbekistan" shot by "Jakhon" Information agency under the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Uzbekistan. The 20-minute film tells about the unique collection of the Museum as well as about the tourist attractions of Uzbekistan. The film made in Russian and English, is intended for demonstration at Uzbekistan embassies abroad.

Thousand square metres of modern art
On August 16th, in the Youth Creativity Palace in Tashkent there opened the Festival of traditional and modern art "Navkiron Uzbekiston". The festival is organized by Fund Forum and Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan every second year. The objective of the project is to find and support young talented painters and masters of applied art. This year more than 300 applications were submitted for participation in the Festival. More than 1000 works have been represented in the exposition.

In the first section there are exhibited various architectural projects, including a toy shop in a form of a fairytale castle, a water stadium whose streamline forms remind a shockfish, an exhibition hall of modern arts which looks like a croissant, and many others. The second section shows the items of popular decorative and applied art in interpretation of young artists. Blue ceramics from Rishtan, lacquered miniature, embossing from Ferghana, wooden carved caskets, quaint articles made from dried pumpkin, pictured knitted from threads, jewelry by Tashkent and Andijan artists, gold embroidery from Bukhara, a number of black-and-white and coloured suzanis from various regions of Uzbekistan.
Third section is an impressive show of costumes of different times and nations. The collections of young fashion designers include bright garments for special events and everyday clothes, national costumes and exotic attire made of feathers. Each item demonstrates the skills and creativity of its author.
Modern art exposition occupies the whole storey of the Palace and practically attracts the largest number of visitors. The exposition presents paintings and graphic works, art of photography, sculpture, batik.
Under the "Navkiron Uzbekiston" Festival there are organized master-classes by Uzbekistan artists, designers, sculptors, as well as various presentations of participants' projects.
The award ceremony of the prize-winners of The Fourth Festival of traditional and modern arts "Navkiron Uzbekiston-2010" has been completed, but the exhibition will last till September 16th.

Awards to young archeologists
Recently, the International Caravanserai of Culture of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan has hosted the ceremony of awarding with incentive prize of Ikuo Hirayama in the field of archeology.
The annual prize of Ikuo Hirayama is aimed at encouraging young academic archeologists and historians from different countries to actively participate in archeological research, restoration and conservation of Silk Road cultural heritage.
Read more This year among the prize winners there was a group of scientists from the COKA University in Tokyo, Japan, who participated in excavations works at world –known site of Dalverzintepa (south of Uzbekistan) – the first capital of Kushan empire, French researcher Katia Juhel, who participated in the research of antique monument of Chinghiztepa in Old Termez, and two Uzbek scientists: Otabek Oripjonov, the deputy director of the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan and Bahodir Madaminov, art historian and manager of the restoration workshop of the International Caravanserai of Culture.
Ikuo Hirayama (15 June, 1930 – 2 December, 2009) is a world-known artist, outstanding academic-researcher, the founder of the Great Silk Road Fund, Museum of Eastern Cultures in Tokyo, and the Fund for Saving Monuments of Culture and History in Afghanistan.

"PaSaDo" - a new restaurant of chef's cuisine
Recently in the system of public catering of Tashkent there appeared a new restaurant of chef's cuisine – "PaSaDo" restaurant.

One more aqua park opened in Tashkent
A new aqua park entertainment complex - "Aqualand" opened in Tashkent. It was constructed together with Chinese specialists.
The aqua park is located in Yunusabad district of the Uzbek capital and features 4 outdoor swimming pools. One of the pools is a kind of Jacuzzi with hydro massage effect, whereas another one imitates tidal wave.
Read more The aqua park is equipped with underfloor heating system which allows the complex to be operational until late autumn. The aqua park total area is about one hectare. Besides the pools there are water slide and other attractions.
Next year it is planned to construct indoor swimming pools thus making the aqua park operational all the year round.
