Uzbekistan national air carrier, Uzbekistan Airways, started to operate a new direction – Tashkent-Vladivostok-Tashkent.

In May this year in topical programme of Italian TV channel Koper Capodistria there was shown the film "Uzbekistan on the Silk Road".

With the purpose of transport and tourism infrastructure development, the management of "Uzbektourism" National Company and Uzbekistan Railways took a decision on launching a new regular train between two historical centres: Bukhara and Urgench. This rail transportation will be available on a regular basis during tourist season. Tourists will be able to travel from one tourist centre to another by night and have daytime for sightseeing activities.

At its meeting in Zurich in March this year, the Executive Committee of FIFA selected Uzbekistan as the venue for 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

From February 10th, 2011 Uzbekistan's National air carrier included lighters and matches in the list of items prohibited for carrying into the cabin of aircrafts.

Uzbekistan's National Company Uzbekistan Airways is planning to launch new flights: Tashkent-Mumbai and Tashkent-Islamabad. The necessity to introduce these flights is explained by the increase in volumes of tourists from India and Pakistan who are eager to visit Uzbekistan.

At International Tourism Fair FITUR- 2011, that took place in Madrid at the end of January this year, among the expositions of 10 500 tourist companies from 166 countries, the national stand of Uzbekistan was notable for its range of offers and modern design.
