This unique competition gives you an opportunity to combine unusual running event with visiting ancient cities located along the Great Silk Road. The aim of this marathon is both running and getting acquainted with masterpieces of oriental culture, remarkable historical monuments, as well as people and their traditions. More than 1000 people from different parts of the world participate in this marathon. Any healthy person who has desire and time can take part in this grandiose event.
Great Silk Road Marathon distinguishes from other traditional marathons – the distance of the Uzbek part of “Silk Marathon” is divided into several stages – 12 km 195 m in Khiva, 15 km in Bukhara and 15 km in Samarkand. Many unique monuments and architectural constructions, concentrated in these ancient cities are of a great significance to the mankind and have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Thus, the participation in Silk Road Marathon gives you the opportunity not only to improve your sport achievements, but also to marvel at great historical centres with its architectural masterpieces.

Visit to the oldest part of the city: Kunya-Ark fortress, including Kurinish Khana (17c); Mohammed-Amin-Khan(19c) Madrassah, Islam Khodja Minaret; Palvan-Kari complex, Abd Al Bobo complex(18c), Rafanek Madrassah, Mohammed Rakim Khan (19 c), Amir-Tur Madrassah, Sho-I-Kalandar Bobo Mausoleum.
